10/2/20 Update and Supportive Resources for Families and Staff

Dear Bennett Valley Families and Staff,

I hope you are safe and doing well!  What a harrowing week!

Thanks to the amazing work of the fire crews, it appears that the district is mostly out of danger at this time, although several of our neighborhoods are still under evacuation warning (Summerfield–immediately west of the park) or mandatory evacuation (Bennett Valley Road, southwest of the park boarding Glen Ellen and Kenwood) which is still unsettling.

This has been a devastating week and we all crave a return to normalcy which I hope can happen very soon.  I am watching the fire updates and the weather and am optimistic that we will be able to resume distance learning on Monday as planned.   I will update you over the weekend via text.
Our schools made it through with no damage other than some ash and debris.  Many thanks to the maintenance team for their work in cleaning our grounds and school buildings.
The Sonoma County Office of Education has supportive resources  for parents and staff.

I have been in contact with their “Care” team which will be available to provide support to students as needed.

Take care.  I hope you are able to have a relaxing weekend.

Stay safe!
Sue Field, Ed.D.,  Superintendent

¡Mantenerse a salvo!

Sue Field, Ed.D., Superintendente
