Dear BVUSD Families and Staff,
I hope you are doing well and staying healthy and safe! We will get through this unprecedented event together. It promises to be a bit of a long haul.
We are getting new information every day. I offer today's updates:
School Lunches: Santa Rosa City Schools has graciously agreed to include our students in their meal program. Beginning Monday, 3/23, after Spring Break, all students ages 18 and younger may get a drive-through/carry out lunch from 11:30-1:00 PM from any of the following locations. The students must be present to collect the lunch:
Elsie Allen High School-599 Bellevue Ave
Lincoln Elementary–850 W 9th
Monroe Elementary-2567 Marlow Rd
Cook Middle School-2480 Sebastopol Rd
Piner High School–1700 Fulton Rd
Santa Rosa Middle–500 E St
Lewis Education Center–2230 Lomitas Ave
Burbank Elementary–203 S A Street
Brookhill Elementary–1850 Vallejo St
Remote Learning: On Friday, all K-6th grade students received 2 weeks of work via the learning packets designed by our wonderful teachers. The TK teachers have also created packets that are available either today or tomorrow. TK parents will be hearing from their child's teacher as to the distribution of these packets, consistent with required social distancing.
We will continue to provide work for your children as long as this lasts.
Devices: Last Friday, we endeavored to determine who might need a computer or other device to do the work packets; most if not all packets sent out so far did not require a device. Should this go on awhile, some grade levels may use Google Classroom or other platform. Some of you without devices may wish to check one out from us or other vendors (see below). If you would like to check one out from us, please email your child's principal John.eberly@bvusd.org and Josh.Wilson@bvusd.org directly and please cc Director of Technology Services, Tina Barrett a tina.barrett@bvusd.org.
Connectivity: Several providers have offered free connectivity to low income families with students during school closures.
Comcast (English: 1-855-846-8376 / Spanish: 1-855-765-6995) or http://www.comcastcorporation.com/COVID-19/.
T-Mobile (contact: Stephanie.Tovani1@t-mobile.com)
Sonic https://www.sonic.com/cov19
Sprint (contact: Taylor.Simms@sprint.com)–They also have devices to buy or rent
Using our Schools During Closure: The Shelter in Place order did allow some use of outdoor space for exercise with social distancing required. If you bring your child to school to play–please do not let your child use the play structures. Although we have cleaned them, they stay clean only until one person uses them. Students are welcome to use the track, shoot baskets with their own ball, use the ball wall for handball practice with their own ball, but they must keep the social distancing and not play with others who might also be on site. I know that sounds terribly harsh, but the goal is to flatten the curve of the spread of this virus.
Take care! I will keep your informed as things develop.
Stay safe and stay tuned,
Sue Field, Superintendent
